From a Wedding Gift to a Coffee Movement
Our coffee journey began in 2018 with a wedding registry that included a Cuisinart burr grinder and a Bialetti Moka pot. What started as simple morning rituals quickly evolved into a passion that would transform our lives and eventually create a community.
In those early days, we were content with Starbucks beans and YouTube tutorials. We didn't know then that coffee would become more than just a beverage—it would become our mission.
The Evolution of Respect the Beans
When the pandemic forced the world to slow down, our coffee exploration accelerated. Working from home became an opportunity to dive deeper into brewing techniques and equipment. We cycled through grinders, brewers, and accessories—each new piece of gear opening doors to new possibilities.
But something unexpected happened along the way. As our equipment collection grew, our focus shifted from the tools to what truly matters: the beans themselves. We realized that no matter how sophisticated your equipment, the quality of your coffee ultimately depends on the beans you choose.
This revelation—that great coffee isn't about fancy gadgets but about respecting the quality, origin, and journey of each bean—became the foundation of Respect the Beans.

The name "Respect the Beans" was inspired by an unlikely source: a memorable moment from Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry David insists on "respecting wood." This sparked a question that became our guiding philosophy: "Do you respect beans?"
What began as a playful inquiry among friends evolved into a movement dedicated to honoring every aspect of coffee—from the farmers who nurture the plants to the roasters who craft the flavors to the brewers who prepare the perfect cup.
